I was born in Dumfriesshire in 1948 and I am now based in Glenshiel in the Scottish Highlands. My career path took me into the hotel and restaurant business and in 2016 I finally retired. I have always had a huge interest in art as many of my relatives are professional artists, and so my hobby over the years has been dabbling in painting.
Since retirement I have done a four month portfolio course in Ullapool and I have been on many painting workshops to learn different skills. I have now had built my own little studio in the garden overlooking Loch Duich and this has inspired me to work more intensely from my sketches and photos as I watch the landscapes around me changing in colour and form. I work mainly in mixed media using acrylics, inks and collage. A selection of my paintings can be seen at annual exhibitions and online, also in my studio but by appointment only.
